Holiday Outings in Style

As I've mentioned before, I have some weight to lose since giving birth to my son in mid August. Unfortunately, holiday parties and major events don't come to a stand still just because I am larger than I would like to be. I have a wedding to attend on December 3rd and a dinner cruise on December 17th, both of which I need to be fabulous for, I decided the dresses needed to be made to compliment my positives which are few and far between right now.

I love 40's and 50's style dresses, primarily because those era's saw full figured curvy women as sexy, I also enjoy youthful flare of petty-coats and up-do's with a little youth in them, so I began to look for inspiration.

Since I knew I needed a simple pattern... something easy, I went in my local Joann's fabric store with only one thing in mind, getting a pattern that would say fun and confident without breaking the bank. I found the perfect pattern by Very Easy Vouge. I am doing this gown in plum back satin, I have a perfect pair of black peep toe satin shoes with a fanned ribbon on the heel... So cannot wait to reveal the dress to you all!

This is the dress for my best friends dinner cruise on December 17th

I am also doing easy patterned dresses similar to the 50's style dress I will be wearing to the wedding next month for my daughters (the teen and tween both love 40's and 50's fashion thanks to me) in silver, for our family pictures.
