Just before I delivered my son, I lost my Grandmother (I have mentioned her before). I went back to work less than two weeks after she passed away, to be honest, I was in auto-pilot. Those weeks leading up to Asa's birth were rough to say the very least. One of the days I was at my office, I found some inspiration on etsy.com and I decided that more than ever, I needed to tell myself something positive everyday.
Instead of ordering prints from etsy, I gave a young lady I met while planning my DIY wedding a buzz and we came up with these two concepts:

I emailed the template to Office Max and had them printed for 1.69 each. I then went in Target and picked up these two frames that had been marked down. I find myself standing in front of "Pray Always" all the time, I always think of my Nana when I look at the picture- she told me just before my wedding "Summer, I love you; I am always here for you. I pray for you, more than I pray for myself." I miss her more than words can say, but I continue to pray - just as she taught me, I know she would want me to.
I hope to find two really nice chairs and make little cushions for them for additional seating, I will place them beneath the frames.
I have to do something about these cords from the T.V. and the cable wires, there is a media niche that I've had my eye on for a while, I hope I can get it.
When I am in my kitchen, I can read my art and reflect, I always give being a good mother, wife, friend, daughter, sister and employee my very best effort. I hope I'm doing so.

I'm so sorry that you lost your grandmother. I can imagine how hard it is and how much you miss her. Your artwork is a sweet tribute to her.
Oh Summer, this post really jumped out at me. Last year on 1/1/10 a month and four days before I had my daughter my Granny passed away. I definitely understand and can relate...there really are no words. I love your artwork:) We have done similar things...I have two things I like to keep that remind me of her. My granny was a big thrifter and after she passed I searched her home and found this angel and a coin purse that she used to make me count change out of. The coin purse I keep in my safe because it has such great memories. I remember not wanting to learn how to count the change but looking back I am so glad she made me do it, those are precious memories to cherish forever. God bless you sweetie:)
I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how much your I know how much your Nana meant to you. The artwork is so pretty and very so meaningful. I know she is watching over your and your girls and Asa.
Brandi- Thank you, my family & I had just moved in to the house about a week and a half before Nana passed away so with her being tired and the heat, she never got the chance to see the house. I wanted some things in my home that remind me of her/
Latoya- Wow! I too am soo sorry for your loss. I love that you also have tangible iyems of your Grandmother that you can cherish. I have my Nana's Bible that she read everyday. I had a meltdown last week and my aunt told me to close my eyes and open the Bible, then read the fist thing I saw; I opened the bible to the parable of The Good Samaritan. I realized that there was no other way to describe my Nana. It was a precious moment.
